Analysis Title: Reservoir Pyrolysis (Reservoir method, IFPEN Shale Play method and HAWK method)
Theory of Operation:
- The Reservoir Pyrolysis methods are pyrolysis methods with modified temperature programs, performed on rock samples such as cuttings, SWC, or cores, designed to better quantify the amount of producible hydrocarbon in unconventional petroleum systems.
- Three reservoir pyrolysis methods :
o Reservoir method.
o IFPEN Shale Play method.
o HAWK method.
- Each Reservoir pyrolysis method is characterized by a specific temperature program, specific analytical condition, and specific generative petroleum peaks. The S1 peak is the main concern, as a result of lowering the primary temperature, allowing improved recovery of free hydrocarbons with better characterization of its composition and yield.
Pick obvious contaminants from the sample.
Pulverize the sample.
Weigh the sample.
Pour the sample into the instrument crucible using a funnel.
Cap the crucible.
Place the crucible in the instrument carousel.
Analyze samples according to the instrument manual and the applied temperate program.
