The Whole Oil SARA is a quantitative method of analysis. It is a routine separation of a crude oil into its Saturate, Aromatic, Resin and Asphaltene fractions. The hydrocarbons from C4 till C10 are removed by topping. This loss is accounted as “topping” loss. This loss percent is re-distributed to the aliphatic and the aromatic fractions using the results of GC/FID. The WOSARA results accurately reflect the relative percents of saturate, aromatic, resin and asphaltene components in the oil being analyzed.
