Analysis Title: Gas Chromatography for gases
Instrumentation: Trace TM 1300 Gas Chromatograph-Thermo Scientific
Theory of Operation:
- The gas chromatograph (GC) is equipped with flame ionization detector (FID) and two thermal conductivity detectors (TCD) to allow the detection of a wide range of compounds. The GC separates methane (C1) through C6 hydrocarbons, in addition to oxygen, nitrogen, hydrogen, helium, carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, and hydrogen sulfide, through a number of capillary & packed columns.
Withdraw an appropriate amount of the gas from an IsoJar or IsoTube using a plastic syringe.
Inject the gas into the GC and analyze the sample using the appropriate GC method.
Review the chromatogram and identify the peaks.
